Why the name
BlackStone Studio?

BlackStone Studio's name comes from my hometown, a border town called Piedras Negras, Coahuila, México.

The correct translation of the town's name is "Black Rocks", but locals have always joked that it is called "Black Stone City".

The town originally got its name because of the coal deposits that are found in the area.

Barbara Holland

Hello there! My name is Barbara Holland and I am the one woman show behind BlackStone Studio. Ever since I can remember, I have loved to draw, create and design! I knew early on in my life that whatever I chose to do had to be somewhat artistic. I decided to become a graphic designer because I love creating things that are not only beautiful, but also functional and practical. This is my passion and I'm one of the few lucky people who get to work doing something they love.

My Background

I am originally from the border town of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, México. Raised between two countries enabled me to go to school in both the US and México, so I became fluent in both the English and Spanish language and culture.

I attended the University of Monterrey and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Graphic Design. Afterwards, I moved to San Antonio, Texas, where I earned a second degree as a Multimedia Specialist from Northwest Vista College.

During my last year at Northwest Vista, I interned and later worked for a local advertising agency as a Graphic Designer. This job gave me the opportunity to work with important accounts, such as The Cattle Baron's Gala, The ALMA Awards, Methodist Hospital, and Avnet Technology Solutions.

In 2008, I started my own design studio in San Antonio, Texas. I am committed to making custom graphic and web design projects at a great price. I work directly with each client from start to finish. I specialize in helping startup companies establish their graphic and online identity, but I have also worked with national companies creating projects that they might not be able to produce internally.
