Design Process

BlackStone Studio's Design Process

1. Meet

I prefer to meet you in person over a cup of coffee, especially if this is the first time working together. However, if location is an issue, I'm happy meeting through Skype or setting up a phone conference.

2. Talk

The first thing to do is for me to learn about you, your company, your customers, your competitors, and your budget. I also want to know what you expect to receive in terms of design, style, preferred colors and images, layout, functionality and timeline. If we decide we are the right fit, then I can start creating a proposal for your project.

3. Sign

After we meet, I will send you a proposal with the cost for the project. Only after you approve the proposal, sign an agreement and pay the deposit, will I start on your project. Approving a proposal can be as easy as an email saying "Approved". Agreements must be signed and sent back to me.

4. Design

When designing logos, I will provide three design options with different styles, colors and fonts. You might like one as is, or you can request changes to your favorite. You can also request to mix and match elements from all three. I will make a reasonable amount of revisions on the design until we get to one that you like.

When designing items such as business cards, flyers, ads, postcards, posters, etc. I will do one design option. You may like it as is or you can also request a reasonable amount of revisions until we get to a design you like.

When designing a website, I design one option and post it under a temporary link online where you can review it. The design will be an image only, which means the buttons, animations or links will not be functional. You may like it as is or request a reasonable amount of changes to be made to the layout or design. I work on the design as an image until it is approved. Once approved, I move forward to programming it so that it becomes functional. Changes to the design can still be made a this point, but trying to set the design before the programming saves a lot of time and work, so I recommend doing all major design revisions first. You will be able to view website updates throughout the whole process on the same temporary link.

5. Approve

Once your logo design, print design or website is approved and the remaining balance is paid, I will release the logo files to you, print your design project, or launch your website, whatever the case may be!
