I have a confession to make: although I love a good theme, I really don’t like dressing up in costume. That, plus my inability to watch scary movies, really doesn’t make Halloween a holiday I look forward to. However, there is ONE fun Halloween themed event that is ALWAYS fun to go to, and where costumes are entirely optional: The Real Estate Bash! I’m so happy with the new promo flyer I designed for the Bash, but I’m even more thrilled about what’s happening at the event this year… they are awarding a $10,000 scholarship to a deserving UTSA student!!! So if you have a chance to attend on October 21st, definitely do! You’ll have tons of fun. And, if you need a new flyer design, reach out and let’s talk!
Do you have certain web pages that you check daily? Perhaps you’re like me, and you keep your email or calendar tabs open all day, every day. Or maybe you like to have your social media account pages easily accessible. I personally hate having to open the same 2-3 sites every single day… so I found a simple and easy way to have your pages show up every time you turn on your computer and launch your browser.
Using the Chrome browser, open your favorite websites. Then, right-click on each browser tab and click PIN TAB. If you’ve never pinned tabs before, it’s a neat little feature that narrows the tab and moves it to the left of the screen. It helps keep things manageable and it makes it harder to close them accidentally.
Once you have all the sites open and pinned, click on the three dots icon located on the top right corner of the browser. Then click on SETTINGS.
On the settings page, find the section called ON STARTUP and then select CONTINUE WHERE YOU LEFT OFF.
So, the next time you open Chrome, the tabs you selected and pinned will open automatically! Now tell me, what sites do you visit every day?
Is anyone sure how it’s October already? This year has absolutely flown by! Nevertheless, I’m delighted because this month marks the beginning of the San Antonio Chamber Music Society’s 77th Season! I’ve been updating their website with the upcoming concerts’ information—they’re gonna be AMAZING— and I’ve been designing their email blast and formatting their next blog posts! I have been working with SACMS for over a decade, and every single season is full of fantastic music and performances. Want to do something fun this Sunday? It may sound strange, but when I was about 11 years old, I would watch an infomercial over and over again because I loved the music. It was for a Dick Clark’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Era CD set. The commercial was very long, and it featured samples of the songs from each CD with commentary from Mr. Clark himself. I must have watched that infommercial 1,000 times. What can I say… I’ve always loved the oldies! I’m not sure where my passion for the music of the ’50s and ’60s came from. Yet, I’m confident it was unusual for a ’90s kid to be singing along to songs like “Rockin’ Robin,” “Earth Angel” or “Johnny B. Goode.” I’m just thankful for my awesome family that let me be me. And today, I still enjoy listening to all those songs. How about you? Do you like the oldies?
It’s hard to believe that a little over a decade ago, I only had a handful of samples of my work. Today, I’m proud to have a full portfolio with well over 400 projects on display on my website. And, I still get excited every time I add a new piece to it! But the BIG question is… do clients want to see that many samples of my work? Or would they rather see a curated collection of only the best of the best? I asked this a while back on one of my Instagram stories, and the answers leaned towards a curated collection.
