Last year, I started working with a new client, CINow—an organization that collects, analyzes, and delivers trustworthy, up-to-date data in a way that’s easy to understand. After working with them on a few infographics and reports, I can honestly say it’s been a great experience collaborating on their projects.
So, when they approached me with a project for SA Digital Connects, I was happy to take it on, even though it was outside my usual scope of work. They asked me to create a template for a visual analytics platform called Tableau. Having never used Tableau before and having been out of the web design world for a few years, it was a bit of a challenge at first. However, since my role was focused entirely on design, not programming or development, I got to work. I researched the platform’s capabilities and limitations to better prepare and created a visual guide based on their layout structure.
The guide included fully branded mockups and templates for the overall layout, navigation, and potential page structure options. It also included color and font information, as well as a few custom graphics. Their team handled the development and implementation in Tableau beautifully, and, like every other project I’ve worked on with CINow, the collaboration was seamless.
