Supporting Non-profit and Local Events
BlackStone Studio has been getting involved in supporting some non-profit organizations since 2010. I look forward to continue to do this in the years to come. Below are some of the community events BlackStone Studio has been a part of so far.
In December 2013, the first annual Build the Smile party took place in San Antonio. Since then, it has expanded into two annual events, a Ginger Bread Man decorating party in the winter and an Easter egg decorating party in the spring. Both events are completely free to the community and they focus on bringing a morning of fun and friendship to kids and their families. These event are organized by my awesome and generous clients at ibuilderguide.com, Steve Tyson, Louana Tyson and Bertha Luna. Every year, I’m lucky to be part of these events in a small way by donating the design of their promotional flyers.
Since 2011, I have donated my web design services to the Landa Gardens Conservancy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to beautify and maintain the grounds at the Landa Library, a branch of the San Antonio Public Library. The gardens are gorgeous throughout the whole year and their playground is a fun place to take your kids for a fun afternoon outside. During the month of May they have multiple weekly events that are fun for kids. And every fall they hold their annual Landa Nights garden party, a lively evening with dancing, gourmet food and cocktails.
In May 2014, I was happy to donate services to design t-shirts for Harper’s Roar. Sweet baby Harper Singh was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy about the time she was 5 months old. Harper’s family was selling “Harper’s Roar” t-shirts through www.Booster.com to help raise awareness for SMA, as well as funds for Harper’s medical expenses and other families of SMA.
BlackStone Studio donated time and services to the 2013 Cattle Baron’s Gala benefiting the American Cancer Society. I reached out to my awesome clients who jumped at the chance to donate auction items to help raise money for the great cause. In addition to that, BlackStone Studio completely redesigned the Cattle Baron’s website with a fresh new look and collaborated with Sharkmatic Advertising in creating their new logo design.
In September 2010 and 2011, I had the opportunity to be part of the sponsors for the Aim for the Cure – Fight Like Christopher Giesey sporting clay tournament held at the San Antonio Gun Club. This is a non-profit event to raise awareness and fund continued research for Lymphoma, specifically Burkitt’s Lymphoma. My sponsorship helped purchase the cool orange koozies that were used during the tournament.
My good friend Jennifer Trimmier ran and finished the Livestrong Foundation Austin Marathon on February 2011. She trained for months and was able to raise $5,995. I’m happy to share that I was able to play a small part in her amazing journey. I made a monetary contribution, and I also donated a flyer design for an yoga event she held to help her raise money.
