Did you know 1 in 6,000 children are affected by SMA?
Sweet baby Harper Singh was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy about the time she was 5 months old. Through prayer and many supporters, her family has stayed positive, faithful, and strong. This month, Holly Singh is selling “Harper’s Roar” t-shirts through www.Booster.com to help raise awareness for SMA, as well as funds for Harper’s medical expenses and other families of SMA. BlackStone Studio was happy to donate services to design their t-shirts and hopes that they raise tons of money towards this great cause!
Why “Harper’s Roar”? After Harper was diagnosed, Katy Perry’s song “Roar” quickly become Harper’s theme song. 🙂

Each year, BlackStone Studio donates time and services to different non-profits and local causes. One of the biggest events I am involved in right now is the 2013 Cattle Baron’s Gala which will be held at the JW Marriot on October 26th. Since the first gala in San Antonio was held in 1979, this annual event has netted more than $7 million to benefit the American Cancer Society. This fun-filled night is organized to raise money to sponsor kids with cancer so that they are able to go to Camp Discovery and have a normal childhood experience in a supportive, fun, camping environment while offering hope and creating memories.
The 35th Cattle Baron’s Gala branding elements are updated every year to give it a fresh new look! This year’s logo was designed collaboratively by BlackStone Studio and Sharkmatic Advertising. The custom designed logo keeps the western and rustic theme that is a constant throughout the gala and centered around the most well-known icon in San Antonio, the Alamo.
In addition to the logo, I have also participated on redesigning this year’s Cattle Baron’s Gala website. Designed by BlackStone Studio and powered by Sharkmatic Advertising, the new custom designed website has launched this week! Please take a moment to visit the site at www.cbg35.com to learn about the event and how YOU can help this wonderful cause.
The first community involvement project of this year was a flyer design to promote a yoga class in support of my friend (and client), Jennifer Trimmier. She had been training for months to do the Livestrong Marathon in Austin, which took place this Sunday, February 20th. Her goal was not only to finish her first full marathon (which she did!), but also to raise money for the Livestrong and Lance Armstrong Foundation in honor and in memory of loved ones that were battling cancer.
Tia Pirkl, yoga instructor for Yoga Shala, offered to do a free class in hopes that everyone who came donated to Jennifer’s cause. The flyer design that BlackStone Studio donated was to promote this event and Jennifer’s efforts for a good cause.
The yoga class was so successful! With over 30 people taking the class, the room was completely filled up and Jennifer was able to raise over $1,000, which one of the yoga students matched!!! So, a BIG thanks to Bill Melson. He not only matched the donations, but also contributed two Spurs tickets for door prizes.
I not only designed the flyer, but I also went to the class (and took my husband with me). We both did yoga for the very first time ever! In all honesty, I underestimated yoga… the next day all my muscles were sore! It was worth it though, if not for the physical benefits, to support an amazing friend!
Jennifer completed the Marathon this past Sunday and raised a total of $5,995.

I am excited to share that BlackStone Studio is a proud sponsor for the Cordillera Ranch Shindig event that will be held at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, Saturday, April 30, 2011!
Since 2002, the Cordillera Ranch Shindig has raised thousands of dollars for independent Kendall County charities. A few months ago, their Co-Chairman Jamie Amerman approached me to see if I would be able to help them with their website. I was so happy to donate my services for such a great event! This is the second time this year that BlackStone Studio has been involved in a charitable event, and I hope to continue finding ways of giving back every year!
Please check out their new website which just launched at www.CordilleraRanchShindig.org If you can donate to this great event, please do so as all of the money raised will be going to the Kendall County Women’s Shelter, Roy Maas Youth Alternative – Meadowlands Charter School and Young Life Boerne.
