As the year draws to a close, I make it a point to plan an extended holiday break where I disconnect entirely from work. This holiday hiatus tradition, which started a few years ago, allows me to immerse myself fully in cherished moments with my family during Christmas and New Year’s. Let’s talk about some other holiday traditions…
My family has a cherished Christmas Eve ritual: a scrumptious meal followed by the unwrapping of a few presents. Yet, before the feast and gift-giving ensue, we eagerly anticipate the highlight of the evening—the “envelope game,” a unique creation by my dad. Each of us takes a turn with a pair of dice, and if it lands on doubles, it earns you the chance to pick an envelope. Some contain a nice surprise, while others only have a playful prize. The suspense and laughter it brings unite us all, young and old, in shared merriment and joy.
