The true cost of a bargain

You know that feeling when you score a deal so good, it feels like you’ve beaten the system? That was me this weekend. I fell in love with the cutest dress marked down from $40 to $9.99. I practically danced to the fitting room.

Sadly, I noticed a small tear on the dress and it was the only one left in my size. So, I took it to the cashier, who—brace yourself—offered an extra 20% off the already ridiculous price. I thought, ‘I can fix this! How hard could it be?’

Fast forward to me battling chiffon with a needle and thread. My sewing skills? Not great. But there I was, switching between my disastrous hand stitching and my sewing machine—which, took me an hour just to set up. The result? From a distance, it’s kind of okay. Up close? You’ll definitely spot my “handy” stitchwork.

This got me thinking: why do we do this to ourselves? Why sacrifice sanity for a deal that ends up costing hours of stress? And to top it off, it didn’t even turn out how I envisioned

While it was a great find, I should’ve just taken it to a professional to mend. Sure, it wouldn’t stay the amazing deal once you add that cost, but whether it’s fixing a dress or tackling a design project for your business, sometimes it’s better to invest in someone who saves you time, frustration, and stress—and actually delivers the results you imagined.
