Wanna hear something embarrassing? I once presented a pitch to a big potential client in a conference room with about half a dozen people in suits and stern faces. While I nervously hooked up my laptop to the big screen behind me, I inadvertently ended up displaying a close-up selfie of my husband and me. It got stuck on the massive screen for a good five minutes before I was able to take it down from everyone’s view. I was mortified, but I pushed back my shoulders, laughed it off, and carried on with my presentation. Needless to say, I didn’t get the project. It took me a while to forgive myself for that one, but we all make mistakes, don’t we? And what are mistakes but just lessons to be learned, right? That experience taught me so much about being prepared and running tests before any meeting, big or small. I also learned that sometimes not getting the job is a blessing. That project was much bigger than I could have handled at the time, and it would have probably stunted my business growth rather than propelled it. So there you have it. Your turn! Tell me your embarrassing business story below… bonus points if you share the lesson it taught you!
